Established in 1974, Planet X started within the remnants of an old homestead on the Emigrant Trail between the Smoke Creek and Black Rock deserts of Northern Nevada. Over the course of the years, the space has developed a working pottery studio and four galleries. The facility operates completely off the grid, about 8 miles from the nearest power source, and utilizes solar, propane, and a generator for electricity. Planet X offers a variety of porcelain, stoneware, and Raku for purchase in a middle-of-nowhere destination. The space is open most of the time, with an annual Open House Show & Sale during Memorial Day weekend and a Bargain Sale each Thanksgiving weekend.
