The Capital City Arts Initiative (CCAI) is an artist-centered organization committed to the encouragement and support of artists and the arts and culture of Carson City and the surrounding region. The Initiative is committed to community building for the area’s diverse adult and youth populations through art exhibitions, live events, arts education programs, artist residencies, and online projects. CCAI presents visual art exhibitions in three sites in downtown Carson City: the Brick Gallery, the Courthouse Gallery, and the Sierra Room.
The Brick Gallery, 108 E. Proctor Street. The Brick Gallery is in the lobby of Carson City's Community Development Building and presents changing exhibitions of work by students from CCAI's partner schools.
The Courthouse Gallery, Carson City Courthouse, 885 E. Musser Street, 2nd floor Atrium. The Courthouse Gallery hosts three exhibitions per year by emerging or established local, regional, and national contemporary artists.
The Sierra Room, 851 E. William Street. The Sierra Room is located in the Carson City Community Center and exhibits work by Nevada artists in three 4-month long exhibitions annually. All of the City’s public boards and commissions meetings are held in the Sierra Room. The room is open to the public on Fridays, noon - 5pm, and during all city meetings; find the meeting schedule online at http://www.carson.org/government/meetings-and-events.
