Burning Man is more than an annual event; it is a thriving year-round culture. Burning Man occurs during the week leading up to and including Labor Day on Nevada’s Black Rock Desert, a silt playa 100 miles north of Reno that encompasses more than 300,000 acres of isolated land. Burning Man’s “Black Rock City” celebrates the spirit of community, art, self-expression and self-reliance. Participants depart one week later, leaving no trace. As simple as this may seem, Burning Man is best experienced to understand its extraordinary ethos.
