Helen: a literary magazine is holding our third annual Helen Stewart Poetry Award. Only unpublished poems are eligible for the award. Poets currently living in the state of Nevada may submit up to three poems per entry. Our $5 entry fee is now optional.
The proceeds of the optional $5 entry fee will be split between Helen: a literary magazine and The Friends of the Fort.
Winner of the contest will receive $100 cash prize and publication on our website. Only those who enter the contest and are Nevada state residents will be considered.
1st prize: $100
2nd prize: $50
3rd prize: $25
All entries will be considered for publication on our Friday Night Specials series as well as our web issues. All winning poems are published in our April issue.
The judge for our contest is Rosemarie Dombrowski. She is the founder of rinky dink press, the co-founder and host of the Phoenix Poetry Series, the host of Get Lit, a monthly literary salon, and an editor for Four Chambers journal. She is the co-editor of the multi-genre collection Weaving the Threads: Women, Art, Community, forthcoming from Four Chambers Press. Her work has appeared/is forthcoming in Columbia Review, Stonecoast Review, Anthro/Poetics (anthology), Bombay Gin, Nano, The Review Review, and elsewhere. Her collections include The Book of Emergencies (Five Oaks Press, 2014) and The Philosophy of Unclean Things (Finishing Line Press, forthcoming). She teaches courses on radical poetics, women’s literature, and creative ethnography at Arizona State University’s Downtown campus and is the first Poet Laureate of the City of Phoenix.
