Nevada Alliance for Arts Education

The Nevada Alliance for Arts Education promotes the arts as essential to quality education for all Nevada students. A member of the Kennedy Center Alliance for Arts Education, the NAAE is also a key player in “Poetry Out Loud,” the annual nationwide recitation competition designed to help students master public speaking skills while building self-confidence provides a growing list of resources for Nevada teachers, administrators and parents.

• The NAAE website offers links to funding and grant opportunities nationwide and in Nevada.
• Curricular assistance is provided with a list of lesson plans and creative projects that integrate the arts into classroom activities. “Art Boxes” are offered to teachers, providing innovative methods of combining art with core subjects.
• Professional development is encouraged, and a comprehensive list of opportunities is available.

Nevada Arts Advocates

The Nevada Arts Advocates, celebrating 30 years of service and support, works to expand and enhance access to arts opportunities through public awareness, advocacy and outreach. The NAA develops and supports cultural and educational activities designed to sustain funding and foster appreciation of the arts, and encourages all Nevadans to participate in and enjoy the arts. NAA activities include:

• A scholarship program, supporting graduating high school seniors who wish to further their studies in the arts. $15,500 has been awarded to date.
• Arts Day in the state legislature; since 1987, this signature advocacy event brings representatives of Nevada’s arts industry to Carson City. They meet with their elected representatives on behalf of increased public support for the arts.
• A legislative arts caucus, comprised of members from both the Senate and Assembly. These representatives are often hosted at NAA gatherings to further their education and understanding of the role of the arts in our state.
• A Nevada ‘ambassador for the arts’ (currently Clint Holmes) speaks on behalf of the state’s arts and culture.
• Quarterly arts awareness luncheons, with guest speakers and student performances. Legislators are hosted, and attendees have ample opportunity to meet and visit with them.

Nevada Citizens for the Arts

The Nevada Citizens for the Arts serves as a unifying voice of the arts in Nevada, promoting dialogue and networking to support the arts and cultural education throughout the state. They do this primarily by working directly with their constituency base to improve their ability to integrate the interests of the arts into a broader community interaction and foster a stronger and more productive cultural profile for their communities.
