The Musical Arts Chorus, Singers, and Guest Soloists will perform Choral Medleys highlighting music of Michel Schönberg, George and Ira Gershwin, and Stephen Sondheim in its in its annual “Pops” concert in Dr. Rando-Grillot Recital Hall in the Beam Music Center at UNLV. Vocalist Sidra Kain and Pianist Tyrone Bowers are among the featured guest soloists.
The program under the direction of Dr. Douglas R. Peterson features "Les Misérables, Choral Selections from the Movie," with notable songs “At the End of the Day,” “Master of the House,” “Bring Him Home,” and “Do You Hear the People Sing?”
Songs by George and Ira Gershwin are highlighted in "Who Could Ask for Anything More?" including “Love is Here to Stay,” “Embraceable You,” and “I Got Rhythm.”
"Sondheim! A Choral Celebration" includes contemporary favorites “Into the Woods,” “Send in the Clowns,” and “Being Alive.” The concert also highlights the theme song from "Love Never Dies" by Andrew Lloyd Webber.
This is the closing concert of Southern Nevada Musical Arts Society’s 55thseason and marks Dr. Peterson's 50th Anniversary as Music Director of SNMAS. Eric Eichorst is in his 9th season as the Musical Arts Society accompanist.
