RBS' Mardi Gras Dance

The Reno Blues Society will hold its annual Mardi Gras Dance Party, Saturday, Feb. 17th at Center Court Grill (NEW VENUE), 6000 Plumas Street in Reno with blues artist Maxx Cabello, Jr. from the Bay Area headlining and opening act The Blues Monsters, a popular local blues band. Doors open at 7:00pm with music from 7:30 to 11:00pm.

This colorful event features outlandish costumes worn by attendees and beads will be handed out to all attending. In addition to a costume contest, this is our annual fundraiser for music in the schools as we hold a silent auction to raise funds for instruments, sheet music and music stands. Great prizes like contractor and massage services, restaurant certificates, guitars, saxophone, jewelry, a room-show-restaurant package at Boomtown and much more will be available to bid on. Last year nearly $2,000 was raised at this event and donated to the Washoe County School District music program.

Maxx Cabello, Jr., is widely known here for his appearances at the Eldorado’s BBQ, Brews and Blues every June and he’s played at Harrah’s outdoor plaza and other venues in Reno for a number of years. His rockin’ blues, rock and soul will get you dancing and keep you on your feet. The Blues Monsters have been delighting local audiences for over 20 years and were our main act at our Spring Dance a couple years ago. They are comprised of lead singer and rhythm guitarist Chuck Dunn, guitarist Barry Slayton, bass player Tom Barnes and drummer Michael Overhauser.

Tickets are $22 at the door and $17 in advance at Recycled Records and The Melting Pot in Reno, Hippies Pipes and Incense in Sparks and The Bead Store in Carson City or from any RBS board member. Note some outlets charge a small processing fee. Reno Blues members with dues being current can get the advance ticket price at the door, as well.
