California born, Portland residing artist, Hayden Senter, challenges reality and explores the idea that some of the most important elements of his life are only “transitory”. Using a combination of muted and pastel color palettes, Senter’s prints, paintings, and drawings evoke a feeling a separation and offer a surrealistic take on pastoral narratives. Senter describes his the story in his work by stating, “Often I use the figure to convey a sense of apathetic acceptance. The figures in my work are given the option of a solution to a problem, but are seemingly ignorant to the fact that there is one… I am essentially solidifying these emotions that describe a point in time”. Hayden Senter: Remnants will be on display throughout the month of May, closing June 1st, 2018.
