Karen Kreyeski's Exhibition "The Women's Project: The Gift"

On Wednesday, July 6th from 5pm to 8pm, the Silver City Arts group presents Karen Kreyeksi's The Women's Project: The Gift. Kreyeski’s incredible portrait series of dozens of women from Virginia City, Gold Hill, Silver City and Dayton is a must see. Kreyeski will also be reading her poems written about the women featured in her paintings. The public is warmly invited to this free event with refreshments. The show features dozens of paintings of women from towns in Lyon and Storey counties. You'll recognize many of the faces - Deborah Loesch Griffin of Virginia City; Laura Tennant of Dayton; Karen Wesner, Vicky Clay and Robin Cobbey of Gold Hill; Nancy Dallas of Yerington, and Darlene Cobbey, Gayle Sherman, Cashion Callaway, Patty Marshall, Bonnie Brown, Susan Stornetta, Lila Lindsey, Renate Victor, Molly Allander, Lisa Cook, Julie LaCroix, Sheree Rose, and Quest Lakes of Silver City, among others. Karen is a long time resident of Silver City who has been an art educator at universities, colleges, and schools in both Storey and Lyon School Districts, as well as the resident artist coordinator in Lyon and Storey School Districts. She was also previously a board member with Comstock Arts Council and the Fourth Ward School and was president of Nevada Arts Educators for many years. Her work has been shown in exhibits and galleries in Vegas, Tahoe, Reno and beyond, and can be found in many private collections.
