Preserved: Limb, timber and tree-spirit

Historic Sweetgum: Afternoon Moon, 4ft x 2ft Acrylic, Wood, Sweetgum Branches

Preserved: Limb, timber and tree-spirit features paintings of serene, color drenched environments exploring themes of nature. Artist Jennifer Kapnek uses layers of acrylic paint on recycled wood while incorporating natural elements to reflect concepts of history, endurance, and preservation.

Jennifer Kapnek is an artist from Portland, Oregon. Her work is visually uncomplicated, yet very intentional in material choices and composition, “I am driven by line, obsessed with the transition of color, and consumed by the honing and refining of my approach to detail. My intention is to find the perfect blend of process and product, yielding works that are instinctively pleasurable.” She graduated with a BFA from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, PA and has been a professional artist for over 20 years involved in public art, solo and group exhibitions across the country. In addition to being a professional artist she is President of Urban Art Network, a non-profit organization in Portland dedicated to self –representing artists.
