The Reno Phil looks to something completely different for the conclusion of the first Phil Up! season, with the Russian group Trio Voronezh. This band, renowned for its conventional usage of Russian musical instruments and folk melodies, is composed of three male members, Vladimir Volokhin on the domra, Sergei Teleshev on the bayan, and Valerie Petrukhin on the double-bass balalaika. The concert on Saturday, March 10, 2012 (8:00 p.m.) will be held at the Pioneer Center. The trio will perform folk ballads, classical compositions, and pop music with the Reno Philharmonic Orchestra with Laura Jackson conducting.
