The Contemporary Arts Center (CAC) presents, "Defeat the Future", a group show curated by UNLV, MFA graduate, Yo Fukui, featuring works of art from five notable New York artists and being presented in partnership with the CAC as a cultural exchange of ideas between five artists working in different genres. The show incorporates video installation, paintings, sculptural installation, photography, and performance art. The goal: the artist is placed in the role of warrior trying to defeat an imaginary monster we all have a tendency to create, at times, in our minds, the "Future". Using art and diversity as tools to bring different cultures and ideologies together in order to strengthen a more inclusive definition of community and demonstrate how both can help us understand the emotions behind what people share that helps them connect with each other.
