FTLOJ is pleased to announce that saxophonist John Handy will be performing in a special presentation and lecture for Black History Month on February 24, 2011 at 7:30pm at the Joe Crowley Student Union Theater, UNR. 

John Handy is a composer, teacher and performer “who has devoted his life to using music to elevate the human spirit.”  With recordings spanning over 3 decades, his extensive experience with Charles Mingus and “fiery saxophone style” is sure to be enjoyable.  Accompanying Mr. Handy will be David Ake on piano, Hans Halt on bass, and Andy Heglund on drums.
