Wild Horse Children's Theater announces auditions for Once Upon A Mattress

     Wild Horse Children’s Theater is looking for actors, singers and dancers, ages 12-21 for our spring musical production of ONCE UPON A MATTRESS. Auditions will be held Thursday, January 26 starting at 4 pm and Saturday, January 28 starting at 10 am at the Children’s Museum of Northern Nevada.  Call backs will be Sunday, January 29 at 1:00 p.m.  Auditions are by appointment only!  You must call for an audition slot. 

     Those auditioning should bring a short (1 minute or less) Broadway style song with accompaniment on tape, CD, or iPod that showcases your vocal ability.  (No background vocals, please!  We want to hear what YOU can do!)   You will also be taught a dance.  Please wear comfortable clothes and shoes and plan to arrive promptly to be photographed and fill out forms, including parental consent forms.

     If you thought you knew the story of "The Princess and The Pea," you may be in for a walloping surprise! Did you know, for instance, that Princess Winnifred actually swam the moat to reach Prince Dauntless the Drab? Or that it may not have been the pea at all that caused the princess a sleepless night? Carried on a wave of beguiling songs, by turns hilarious and raucous, romantic and melodic, this rollicking spin on the familiar classic of royal courtship and comeuppance provides for some side-splitting shenanigans. Chances are, you'll never look at fairy tales quite the same way again.    A sprightly mix of 1950’s medieval fairy tale, snappy songs and dances, and the triumph of love. Once Upon a Mattress promises great fun for actors and audiences alike. 

      Performances will be at the Children’s Museum of Northern Nevada, the weekends of May 4-20.  Rehearsals will begin ­­­­­­­­­­­February 8 and will be held Wednesdays and Thursdays from 4:15 -6:30 pm..  Cast members will get a full rehearsal schedule at the first rehearsal.  Not everyone will be required to be at every rehearsal.  Frequency of rehearsals and specific time commitment varies with each role but those auditioning will be asked to list any rehearsal conflicts so please bring your calendars.   Tuition is $100 per actor.  To schedule an audition time or for more information, call the Wild Horse office at 775-887-0438 or email pat@wildhorsetheater.com.  Come and join us on stage!
