Gretchen Winkler was born and raised in Reno, NV. She attended UNR and obtained her BA in English Literature with a minor in Art. She did some graduate level studies at UNR until economics forced her to choose a full time job versus education. She has studied at the Academy of Art University Online Program to begin her MFA and plans to move to another university where she can work more closely with instructors. She has lived all over the western United States and has traveled to Canada and Europe several times where she felt very much at home. She hopes to travel again to Europe and perhaps even live there as well. For the past 20 years she has worked within the technology industry as an early website designer and continues to act as a consultant and lead social media director for Cumulus Technology the "We Are Technology" people.
She started writing novel sized works as a teenager and continues to write today mainly focusing on her online web graphical novel series and a new project geared for young adults and up. Art has always been in her life with her mother encouraging her as a small child. Gretchen's early medium focus was strictly graphite pencil and then later colored pencil. Now she paints regularly in acrylic paint with a broad range of subject matter. She currently has her own blog at http://dragondoodles.wordpress.com/ where she shares her artwork projects, digital photography and general concerns and hopes for the future.
