Ross, Colin

Artist Colin Ross has 36 years of professional experience as a performer, band leader, writer, and composer. He began playing and performing on the piano at the age of five and has been playing professionally since 1977. Ross graduated Magna Cum Laude with a degree in classical piano performance from Central Washington University.

Colin has released a total of eight compilations of original music, including three on the A.W. Tonegold label. He has 13 years of classroom experience, mostly working with K-6. He has participated in grant-funded residencies at schools throughout northern Nevada, Montana, and Wyoming, as well as numerous music "camps," and after school programs and assemblies.

Ross’s artistic approach and repertoire are deeply rooted in traditional American music, with an emphasis on the Great American Songbook, Country Blues, and Vintage Jazz from the 1920s and '30s, as well as original compositions and improvisation. His teaching philosophy emphasizes technical expertise, spontaneity, participation, and joy.
