Carolyn Kollegger

Kollegger, Carolyn

At a young age Carolyn Kollegger had the great opportunity to study oil painting at the world renowned Butler Institute of American Art. During her school years, her work was entered in various local art competitions where she was always among the award winners. She was winning beauty pageants as well, becoming Miss Ohio USA in addition to being chosen Miss Congeniality and 2nd Runner-Up in the National Teenager Pageant. Wanting to attend art school in New York City, Carolyn was scooped up instead by ad agencies for her TV commercial appeal having appeared on TV for products like Palmolive Dishwashing Liquid, and American Express among many others.
After years of world travel with her husband they settled down and had 5 children. When the children were little, she spent much time writing and illustrating children's books and was a member of the Society of Children's Book Writers & Illustrators. A move out West made it possible for Carolyn Kollegger to study intensely under master western artist and illustrator, Tim Tanner. For two years of private mentorship she worked diligently under his direction to develop the vintage illustrative style he is known for. She is now able to devote all her time to her passion for painting Western fine art, doing commissioned pieces while working on her "Western Children" series and western art pieces. She also teaches oil painting and information on her classes can be found at www.kolleggerwestern.com
