Native Nevadan Andrew Martin is proud to have gone through the music programs offered in Northern Nevada and is an active private teacher in the area. He began playing and touring with local folk group Buster Blue. Between 2008 and 2013, he contributed to 4 album releases: "This Beard Grows for Freedom," "When the Silver's Gone," "Still on Conway" and "Sleep Less Where the Heart Is."
He started his experimental indie project, Up is the Down is the, in late 2013 and quickly began recording and playing shows all over the Reno area. His first EP, "An arrow shot from a distance will always pierce the skin, but time, the ever-turning wheel, won't turn back again" was released online in early 2014. The sound of Up is the Down is the is based around looping audio and performances showcase his multi-instrumental musicianship by creating those loops live on stage.
His first full length album, "Mantra," will be released physically and digitally on February 28th, 2015. The album features 9 original compositions stylistically ranging from rock and jazz to electronic and soul.
